Translating Faith into Development

This report serves as a guide for charities working to mainstream faith based teachings into their development policies by exploring Islamic teachings from the Quran and Hadith on helping the poor and needy. It is brought to light that helping the destitute is a duty all Muslims are required to carry out however, creating a dependency culture should not be the outcome therefore questioning some conventional development practices. It is further investigates to what extent Muslim faith based NGOs incorporate the teachings of Islam into their day-to-day operations and if Islamic Development can be mainstreamed.
